Job Summary:
Position includes operating heavy machinery used in the fabrication of structural steel and miscellaneous metals. Equipment types include but are not limited to CNC plasma machines, CNC beam lines, CNC band saw, standard band saws, angle master, sanders, press brake, pipe bender, ironworkers, overhead cranes, forklifts. Machine operators are responsible for creating large and small parts to be used in fabrication and track numbers, dimensions, location of holes and cuts and organizing parts.
Essential Job Functions:
● Monitor and maintain fabrication machinery.
● Set up manufacturing equipment.
● Provide mentorship in on the job shadowing and training of new or entry level Machine Operators.
● Using machine equipment to complete tasks.
● Performing routine inspections of manufacturing equipment.
● Evaluating the efficiency of each unit regularly, identifying improvements as needed.
● Tracking production and working from a detailed list.
● Adherence to Behavioral and Conduct standards.
● Adherence to Safety protocols.
● All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements::
● Basic knowledge of CNC machinery.
● Ability to operate bandsaw.
● Ability to read a tape measure.
● Understanding of basic machine maintenance.
● Organizational and communication skills.
● Ability to work with minimal supervision.
● Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
● High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
● 2+ years’ operating metal fabrication equipment or similar.
● 2+ years’ programming and operating CNC equipment (CNC operators only).
● Experience in small part fabrication, preferred.
● Ability to follow drawing dimensions.
● Ability to draw basic shapes in AutoCAD.
● Ability to manage files on machines.
● Ability to load and unload machines with cranes and rigging.
